Hello,
I have a provisional license in the state of NJ. I am a new driver and was given a ticket for a cracked windshield by an officer as he thought that I looked suspicious for allowing him to pass. I was just new, nervous and stressed. I wasn't being suspicious. So he decided to get me for a cracked windshield.
Well anyway, after going on and on about what I did wrong he decided to give me a cracked windshield ticket. I am glad that he didn't decide to give me anything more, but still, I do not believe I deserve this ticket nor any other violation for the matter.
I am still unclear about NJ laws about cracked windshields. I have read that only if it obstructs your vision but I will be conducting more research.
The grounds for my defense are...
1.) It was not my car. I had immediately just bought a new car that I was driving but it started experiencing motor trouble. Thus, I pulled over and told my father I did not feel comfortable driving with my new car. He then relented and let me drive his jeep. I do not own my father's car. It's not my freaking car and the only reason I was driving it because my new car that I had just bought decided to break down. In fact, that day was horrible as we had to call triple A then take my new car into the shop to get it fixed.
2.) The cracked windshield wasn't obstructing my vision. The crack was at the top, and as a short girl, I was not even aware of the crack as it wasn't in my plane of sight.
3.) What should I do? I'm thinking of taking a picture of the car with the cracked windshield, me in the car to show that my vision isn't obstructed. I am going to bring pictures of my new car, the AAA receipt of that day proving that my car had trouble, then the receipts from the mechanic proving that I had to fix my real car.
Do you think that my ticket could be dismissed with this evidence? My court appearance is on Wednesday and I am planning on pleading not guilty.

Plus, I never been in court. I'm young. I don't know what to do or what to say or how to act. I don't know anything. Any tips for me to make me appear like a professional citizen?
UPDATE: Statue No. 29-3-74 or 9-3-74... Actually I just looked it up, it seems the correct one related to my case is 39-3-74.
New Jersey - 39:3-74 Obstruction of Windshield for Vision
Every motor vehicle having a windshield shall be equipped with at least one device in good working order for cleaning rain, snow or other moisture from the windshield so as to provide clear vision for the driver, and all such devices shall be so constructed and installed as to be operated or controlled by the driver.
No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, sticker or other non-transparent material upon the front windshield, wings, deflectors, side shields, corner lights adjoining windshield or front side windows of such vehicle other than a certificate or other article required to be so displayed by statute or by regulations of the commissioner.
No person shall drive any vehicle so constructed, equipped or loaded as to unduly interfere with the driver's vision to the front and to the sides.
