Later Version Much Better
I have been using the app for about two years. It is a much better app now but there is one major irritation remaining. I plug my IOS phone into the in-car info device and it searches but doesn’t connect. Why? Because you need to pick up the phone (which is prohibited in Australia once the vehicle is on any public road) and click “Allow” on the phone screen. What a foolish imposition. Once I’ve plugged in the phone, that should be enough to signal that I want it connected. Get rid of this secondary check now! If it is necessary to confirm that a connection is required, let it be done on the car screen. Once I’ve plugged the phone in to the car info system, I don’t want to touch the phone again until I leave the car. Another useful enhancement would be to be able to launch other IOS phone applications using the app launcher, how about that for making the device more user friendly in Australia (see comment in brackets above). Thank you. Good progress so far. Fix the above and I might give the app a five. WB
Annoyed at map costs and audio dropout not safe
I have had for years Sygic GPS nav on my iphones. I bought everything in the Sygic store to upgrade it. I eventually got Apple car play in my Mazda 3. The I find I had to use this downgraded version of Sygic. Not only that I had to re-purchase maps at an extortion price.
That said I now find it starts off fine, music playing from the car radio then as soon as a Navigation instruction happens the iPhone sound switches to and stays on the iPhone speaker instead of the car speakers. Google and Apple maps don’t have this problem. This can be a danger because the only fix I found is to stop and reconnect. If I don’t I miss further instructions. Did I see here that my Sygic GPS version will soon work on Car Play? That would be great.
Disappointed with Car Play
After reading all the hype about this app and the fact it is now Car Pay compatible I though great, Something better than having to use Maps. Unfortunately what not is in the hype is the fact that this app has Car Play restrictions. What you see on your iPhone is NOT duplicated on your car’s Car Play. Example, You cannot change the info bar and side bar. The lane change feature is not there and the builds don’t stand out in 3D!! Also I would have liked to been able increase the font ! Basically it’s just Apple Maps with more colours. Not worth the money
